Campaign Story

Hello everyone, we are Scott and Charmaine. Scott, my husband, is a firefighter and personal trainer, and I, Charmaine, am a veteran and now a behavioral technician for children with autism. We both enjoy and find it fulfilling to help others and give back to the community. We have been married for eight years and for four of those years we have been trying to conceive. Within the last four months, we have learned that we fall within the one of every eight couples that experience infertility. We were informed that one of us is a carrier for cystic fibrosis, and with that, congenital absence of essential parts of the reproductive system. IVF is our only option to conceive a biological baby. The possibility of growing our family seemed unattainable. That possibility then seemed impossible when we received our estimated total of our IVF treatment and neither of our insurances cover or provide fertility benefits and treatments. We have researched diligently, set aside funds for out of pocket costs, and applied for most options available to us before considering financing this journey. Before we make that decision we decided to take a chance and come to Gift Of Parenthood in hopes of support.

As happy as we are for our family and friends around us who have been blessed with the opportunity to bring a new life into the world, at times it becomes emotional, wondering when we will get to have that same blessing and opportunity. Asking for help is never easy for us. Fortunately we are able to come to a space where we can be vulnerable and hopeful when asking for our family’s and community’s support for building our own family. Any contribution will be deeply appreciated, never forgotten, and a part of our future baby’s journey to life. Thank you for taking the time to read our story and for your support.
